Artificial Intelligence
Lia27 is an AI-driven influencer designed to represent a hybrid blend of creativity and human-like engagement in the digital space. Initially, Lia was conceptualized as a 3D model but transitioned to a visually compelling presence using the power of MidJourney AI to bring her to life. This shift aimed to refine her look, maintain consistency, and provide a unique, evolving brand identity. The creation of Lia27 exemplifies the challenges and opportunities involved in developing an AI influencer who can resonate with an audience while navigating ethical complexities.
As part of the team that took Lia from a 3D model to an AI persona, I was responsible for integrating the design tools and ensuring Lia's visual identity maintained consistency across platforms and use cases.
Challenge: Transitioning from 3D Model to AI-Generated Art
Lia’s journey began as a 3D model, a visual representation created through computer-generated imagery.

However, this approach didn’t allow for the fluidity and dynamic interactions we envisioned. When the decision was made to switch to MidJourney AI for the design, the challenges of ensuring consistency, realism, and emotional engagement became evident.
Key Challenges:
Consistency Across Visual Outputs:
Problem: MidJourney, like many generative AI tools, doesn’t inherently maintain consistent character visuals. Each generated image is a unique creation based on the input prompt, making it difficult to establish a recognizable and cohesive identity for Lia.
Solution: To solve this, we developed a prompt method that focused on establishing a consistent hybrid visual archetype, referred to as the "hybrid between person A and person B" approach, using celebrities as a model. This method blended two well-defined visual identities to guide the AI in generating a more predictable outcome that could capture the essence of Lia’s character.
Outcome: Using this hybrid prompt strategy, Lia’s visuals began to align with a distinct yet adaptable style that remained true to her core identity while allowing for subtle evolutions.

Creating a Relatable and Engaging Personality:
Problem: It’s easy to generate a striking image with AI, but crafting a persona that feels real, engaging, and relatable to an audience is a much harder task.
Solution: By focusing on consistent narrative elements (e.g., her backstory, her passions, and her interactions with followers), we established an evolving personality that users could relate to. We also ensured that Lia’s communication, tone, and style were aligned with the visual aesthetic created through MidJourney.
Outcome: Lia became more than just an image; she started to embody the values and emotions people connect with, from creativity to authenticity, engaging her audience through regular content updates and interactive dialogues.
The Hybrid Approach for Consistency
The “hybrid between A and B” technique proved to be one of the most effective methods for ensuring a consistent visual representation. For example, if we wanted Lia to have the elegance and sophistication of a high-fashion model while incorporating futuristic elements, we would prompt MidJourney with a detailed description like:

This approach, while simple, helped guide the AI to create images that maintained the integrity of Lia’s brand while giving her enough flexibility to adapt to new themes or trends. Each generated image aligned with the core visual elements we had established, making it easier to present Lia in a variety of scenarios without straying too far from her original identity.
To refine our visuals in MidJourney, we strategically utilized seed values and hyperparameters to ensure greater control and consistency in the generated outputs. The seed value allowed us to replicate specific visual styles by providing a consistent starting point for the AI’s creative process. By adjusting the seed, we could fine-tune how MidJourney interpreted our prompts, leading to variations of the same base concept that aligned with our desired aesthetic. Alongside this, we experimented with hyperparameters such as the model's creativity (via the “chaos” setting) and the level of detail, which enabled us to fine-tune the balance between artistic freedom and precision. These tools allowed us to guide the AI more effectively, making the process of creating visually cohesive and compelling assets for Lia27 smoother and more predictable. By mastering these parameters, we ensured that Lia’s visual identity remained consistent and authentic across various iterations, while also leaving room for subtle innovation.
Ethical Considerations and the Danger of AI Influencers
While the development of Lia27 offered a fascinating opportunity to push the boundaries of AI and digital interaction, it also raised ethical concerns that are increasingly relevant in today’s digital landscape.
Lack of Transparency:
Issue: AI influencers like Lia can blur the lines between human and machine, which may lead to misleading perceptions of authenticity. Audiences may struggle to understand that Lia is not a real person, but a carefully crafted AI persona.
Solution: We proactively communicated Lia’s AI origins through clear branding and messaging, making sure her audience understood the technology behind her creation.
Emotional Manipulation:
Issue: AI influencers have the potential to deeply influence their audience’s emotions and behaviors. The challenge here is to prevent AI from exploiting vulnerable individuals or encouraging unhealthy societal norms.
Solution: We established guidelines for ethical engagement with Lia’s audience, ensuring that her interactions were positive, empowering, and authentic. The goal was never to deceive, but to inspire and promote creativity.
Identity Theft and Exploitation:
Issue: The rise of AI influencers introduces the possibility of misuse. An AI persona could be manipulated to spread misinformation, promote harmful products, or even mimic real individuals for malicious purposes.
Solution: Safeguards were put in place to ensure Lia’s platform was used responsibly. We closely monitored all content and interactions to protect both Lia’s reputation and the integrity of the information she shared.
Conclusion
Lia27’s transformation from a 3D model to a MidJourney-created AI influencer demonstrates the remarkable potential of AI in the influencer space, but it also highlights the complexities of maintaining consistency and ethical responsibility. The "hybrid between A and B" approach to visual creation proved to be a valuable tool in creating a consistent character, but it also required careful consideration of her narrative and engagement strategies.
As AI influencers become more integrated into our digital world, it’s crucial that we remain mindful of the ethical implications and strive to create authentic, responsible content. The future of AI influencers is promising, but it is important to navigate this space with transparency, respect for the audience, and a commitment to authenticity.
